Alltech FEI WEG U.S. Endurance Team Announced

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has announced the members of the U.S. endurance team at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The list is as follows, in alphabetical order:

Team:

1. Deborah Reich of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, on Juniper RJW (Deste Onismus x Deste Toouche), an eight-year-old Arabian mare owned by Rolling Stone Farm, Slatington, Pennsylvania.

2. Heather Reynolds of Los Gatos, California, on Ssamiam (Sam Tiki x Tiki Samantha), a nine-year-old Arabian gelding owned by the rider and Jeremy Reynolds.

3. Margaret Sleeper of Frenchtown, New Jersey, on Syrocco Harmony (Syrocco Troubador x Edgewood Schelite), an eight-year-old Arabian owned by the rider.

4. Janice Worthington of Scales Mound, Illinois, on Golden Lightning (*Wiking x Wisza), a 10-year-old Arabian owned by the rider.

Individual:

Lindsay Graham of Napa, California, on Monk (CMK breeding), an eight-year-old Arabian gelding owned by Christopher Martin.

Team Substitutes:

1. Ellyn Rapp on SA Belshazzer (Bayram x Jayel Tongafarah), a 13-year-old Shagya-Arabian gelding owned by Jeremy Olson.

2. Margaret Sleeper on Syrocco Reveille (Rimmon x Edgewood Schelite), a 10-year-old Arabian owned by the rider.

3. Melody Blittersdorf of Jeffersonville, Vermont, on Synthetic (*Statistic x BHR Tamersyn), a 10-year-old Arabian gelding owned by the rider.


Kay Melvin, the Canadian Endurance Team Chef d'Equipe, announced this week that one of the Canadian team members, Carol Steiner, had a riding accident on Monday, September 20, 2010, and sustained five broken ribs, one cracked rib, a collapsed lung, and a separated shoulder, and as such has been withdrawn from consideration. Carol is in stable condition at the Kentucky University Hospital and is expected to stay there for a few days. 

U.S.A.'s Ellen Rapp's horse Berjo Smoky is out of the competition due to lameness. Deborah Reich and 2002 grey mare Juniper are replacing her on the team.
