General wins Qatar Arabian World Cup at Longchamps

For the second year in a row, Umm Qarn Farm’s General (Amer x Al Hanoof by Manganate) won in the Group 1 Qatar Arabian World Cup at Longchamps Racecourse in Paris, France, on October 3. The photo finish with previously unbeaten Jalnar Al Khalidiah (Tiwaiq x Jody de Syrah by Djourman) later revealed General was the winner, beating Jalnar Al Khalidiah by a short head. The win confirms General’s status as one of the top racing Arabians as he follows in the footsteps of his full sister, Al Dahma.
In a large field of 17 runners, General and Jalnar Al Khalidiah pulled away from the rest of the field in the final straight putting five lengths or more between them and the rest of the field in a powerful and exciting finish. Umm Qarn’s Raqiyah finished third ahead of Al Shahania Stud’s Jaafer ASF and Aziz ASF.
