A word from inside Egypt, the homeland of the Egyptian Arabian horse, from our dear friend Dr. Nasr Marei of Albadeia Stud

Our precious ancient land of Egypt — home of the oldest civilization and of the Egyptian Arabian horse — is being torn apart by political uncertainty and turmoil. It is not the first time in its over 7,000 years of history that my country endures such fate but it has always come out stronger and the Egyptian people survived. I have no doubt that the same will also take place this time.
Since the beginning of the crisis, I have received literally hundreds of messages and phone calls from practically all corners of the world from friends and, most amazingly, from people I do not know that care about Arabian horses and about us as a people. It is very emotional to read these messages and feel their comments.
It is most gratifying to know that I have so many friends and new friends that really care about me and my family’s safety and the well-being of my horses. To them I am most thankful and will never forget their warm and kind sincere words.
Many Egyptians and foreigners have decided to leave the country until the crisis ends seeking safety for themselves and their families. I have chosen to stay next to my horses. There is no way that I can leave and leave behind my treasured horses that are my life. All other breeders have chosen to do the same. We remain so far safe and unhurt despite the continuous threat that we face.
We pray that we and our horses may come out of this crisis safe and the insanity ends. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

— Nasr Marei
