ARC Suspends Operations
The Arabian Racing Cup, which administers the annual Darley Award championships and a bonus program that supplies additional monies for stakes nationwide, has dispersed its financial holdings because of poor economic conditions facing Arabian racing, a decision that chief steward Ted Wright said he hoped would be temporary. Lexington’s Keeneland Racecourse to Host Abu Dhabi-sponsored $50,000 Arabian Stakes Race During World Equestrian Games
The race will be sponsored by Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Equestrian Federation.
On May 11, plans for the race were approved by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Aside from Abu Dhabi’s equestrian federation, the plan was supported by prominent Arabian owners and breeders throughout the United States as well as the Keeneland Association.

This year at Scottsdale the AEPA again awarded $100,000 to four-year-old purebred Arabian English Performance horses. For all of us who breed for English performance, the fact that the horses are individually ridden and scored is a huge draw. Read more.

23rd Annual Darley Award Winners Announced
The 23rd Annual Darley Awards, sponsored by the Arabian Racing Cup (ARC), were held Saturday, March 13, in Houston, Texas. The big winner of the evening was Sand Witchh (Burning Sand x *Tornade du Loup by Tornado de Syrah) who was named Horse of the Year as well as Three-Year-Old Filly of the Year. Sand Witchh, bred by Dianne Waldron, is owned by Guy Neivens. Read more.

Tevis Cup Endurance Ride 2009
